On Falsehoods and Lies

Lies (falsehoods) are not synonymous with evil.
They mislead but they DO serve a purpose.
This is WHEN understanding the motive is most important.

A lie can be intended to draw us away from something personal, such a trait a person doesn’t want us to see. That’s an inability to be honest, for psychological reasons. It isn’t evil.

The other could be a teacher testing a student’s sense of discrimination. Here, it is being used to teach, by testing the student’s ability to PERCEIVE what is important in any situation and what are the distractions.

Our ability to measure our spiritual growth is connected to our familiarity with the subtler differences between good and evil because it reflects our evolving sense of discrimination.

Finally, let’s not forget falsehoods that are told out of IGNORANCE.
